Client: Belfast Education and Library Board
Located in Upper Riga Street, North Belfast, this two–storey existing school first opened in 1928. The building has B1 listed status and retains many of its original features. The main teaching areas form an open internal courtyard which has been compromised by inappropriate extensions which were completed during the 1950s and 1970s.
The historic building layout requires a new approach to arrange of classrooms to accommodate and meet the needs of modern curriculum and teaching methods. A full refurbishment is required to bring the building up to current standards of accessibility, thermal performance and weather tightness.
