In 2008 RMI took part in a design competition to deliver the new Conicor Children’s Hospital for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. The project was for a community based specialist assessment and treatment service for children and young people with learning disabilities.
Our design picked up on the local context and urban grain, using linear ‘street’ blocks to provide the main accommodation wings with an east-west arc defining the more public and more private spaces and the spaces between the blocks providing secure and passively supervised break-out space.
